My name is Ylenia.

I was born and raised in Munich, a city that will always remain an important part of my identity and my history. At the same time, ever since childhood, I have carried within me a deep love for—and a strong bond with—Abruzzo.

My story with this special land began long before I was able to live here: in my grandparents’ small, two-room home in Munich.

My grandparents arrived in Germany from Abruzzo as immigrant workers. They left their homeland to build a new life in Munich. There, they worked, found a new home, and remained connected to their adopted land until they retired.

Yet, they never forgot their roots. In their small kitchen, they gave me something precious: a connection to their homeland. Through traditional dishes, old family recipes, and moments shared around the table, I learned not only about Abruzzese cuisine but also about the values that define this region: family, hospitality, a sense of belonging, and the joy found in life’s simple, authentic moments.

Four years ago, I left Munich and returned to my grandparents’ homeland: Abruzzo. This move was made possible thanks to my partner. With his support, his belief in me, and the opportunity to forge a new path together, I was able to begin a chapter of my life that I had long held close to my heart.

Together, we created Il Corallo in Montesilvano—a place where my personal history, his connection to this land, and our shared vision all come together.

Without this special bond, it would not have been possible to share my love for this region with others and introduce them to a little piece of Abruzzo. Today, I live right where my family’s story began. Every day, I rediscover the beauty of this land: the sea, the landscapes, the traditions, the people, and that distinctive lifestyle that makes Abruzzo so unique. With Il Corallo, we wish to offer our guests much more than just a stay. We want to create a place where you feel welcomed—a place where you can arrive and feel right at home, where Abruzzo is not merely visited but truly experienced and carried with you. Because behind every place, there are people, memories, and stories. And sometimes, life leads us back to those very roots that have always been a part of us.
